Help Make Winterton a First Aid Town – Free Second Training Session Announced

The initiative, delivered in partnership with Winterton Town Council, aims to build a network of trained local volunteers across the town who have the skills and confidence to support someone experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency until an ambulance arrives.

The next training session will take place on:

Monday 27th July
7.00pm
Winterton Community Pavilion

There is no need to book – simply turn up and take part.

The free, hands-on training is open to anyone who would like to learn practical lifesaving skills and help make their community safer.

Participants will learn how to respond to a range of emergency situations, including:

  • Unconscious casualties

  • Casualties who are not breathing

  • CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Choking

  • Severe bleeding

  • And other essential first aid techniques

The goal of the project is to have trained volunteers living throughout Winterton, ensuring that more people are prepared to act confidently in the critical minutes before emergency services arrive.

The training is informal, practical and suitable for anyone aged 16 and over, with plenty of opportunities to practise the techniques being taught. While the sessions are not certificated, they are designed to provide the knowledge and confidence needed to support others in an emergency as part of a wider community network.

Phil McCarthy, Phil, St John Ambulance Network Lead, South Humber, commented:

"The response to our first training evening was fantastic, demonstrating the community's willingness to learn skills that could one day save a life. We hope even more residents will come along to this second session and help us build a network of first aid volunteers across Winterton."

Learn lifesaving skills and become part of a community committed to making Winterton a safer place for everyone.
